Quinle had been in ten forward again when the news came in that missing crew had arrived back in the shuttlebay so she made her way down, running through the halls with the rest of the crew trying to figure out what was happening. When the shuttlebay doors opened she gathered her breath and reached up to make sure the figure eight braid she had twisted her hair into that morning was still in place before walking into the area and looking across the faces there, before settling on one, the captain.

Slow steps that allowed her to avoid others that were standing or helping had her at the captain's side within a moment. "Captain, reporting for duty." It was more militaristic than she had meant to sound but when her lips opened, that was what came out, so she accepted it.

Mallory looked up from...whatever blank space she had been staring into. She saw the counselor and smiled wearily, without humor or actual warmth. It was no surprise to see the woman here. Rahl would be needed... "Counselor," she said, the word sounding like a sigh. "You have your work cut out for you." She paused, and then realized some of the news--one piece out of many--that she'd just heard. "I..." She hesitated, swallowing and starting again. "I'm sorry to tell you that your chief, Lieutenant Commander Wallace-Shaw, did not make it."

“I...” Quinle paused for a moment, “...see. Yes, well, I am very sorry to hear that. I did not know her long but I looked forward to know her better and working under her.” Rocking back on her heels a bit, suddenly taken aback by this level of news. “Right, yes.” She was stammering now, her mind not working at full speed, her calm fading for a moment or so, before blinking and looking around. “Where am I needed most right now?”

"We could perhaps take a moment," Mal suggested, for the counselor but perhaps for herself. "There... Well. There are several deceased crew that we brought back to the ship, and there are still several missing. Either they died on Earth and we couldn't find them, or they ended up in space." She rubbed a hand over her face. "The whole crew seems to be down here, finding people who went missing. Some are going to be relieved. Some are not."

Rahl looked to the bay and nodded, her moment of tension released as she focused on all those around them. Her dark eyes scanned the room, then returned to the captain, "I will not ask you how you are feeling here, but I feel we should talk together soon in private." She knew this was not the place, "Maybe I can help arrange my staff to help people find news, and arrange a place in the ship for mourning and a service?"

Mallory nodded solemnly. She knew she'd have to talk with the counselor...but first things first and second things second. There was all this to sort out, and then they had to get home. "I think that would be a good idea, Counselor. It's all very confused here now, and something, to streamline, would be best."

“I will get everything organized and people up to be here round the clock for a couple of days. No reason one of us trained to help others should not be here always.” Quinle did not smile but offered a look of reassurance to the Captain. “None of this will be easy for everyone, it is good I have the few people I do or you may have had to clone me.”

"Unfortunately, we don't have the time, Lieutenant," the captain said with a sad smile. "But whatever you can do in the time we have before this slingshot thing would be appreciated. This is a lot of trauma and there's about to be a lot of concern with what we're going to do."

Quinle lowered her head slightly, “I make myself and the office staff as available as possible as long as we are needed. Yes, I realize that means on past the the slingshot as there will be people dealing with this for a time.” She cut off any thought that might come about knowing that this was a short term problem. “Pleas just let me know if there is anything you need of me personally beyond these arrangements.”

Mallory's smile remained, faintly, but turned waned. "I need you to not forget that you're a member of the crew as well. The whole counseling staff. I don't want you all running yourselves ragged either. We will all be needed before this is said and done, I am sure."
